Based on Jason Matthews’ 2013 book of the same name, “Red Sparrow” is a 2018 spy thriller film directed by Francis Lawrence and written by Justin Haythe. Jennifer Lawrence plays Russian intelligence officer Dominika Egorova in the film. She is assigned to Sparrow School, a covert intelligence organisation that teaches gifted youths how to use their bodies and brains as weapons.
Dominika becomes the most dangerous Sparrow after enduring the harsh training. She encounters a CIA agent (played by Joel Edgerton) who tries to persuade her to defect as she adjusts to her new powers. Their friendship is followed throughout the film as they negotiate the perilous world of espionage.
